#OOTD: That '70s Show (Feat. Make Me Chic)

Admittedly, I have never quite grown out of the phase of wanting to play dress up and probably never will. All throughout my teens and now even in my early 20s, I have constantly been experimenting with different styles and fashion genres. Whether it be different hair colors (and cuts), makeup looks, or fashion trends, my look is ever changing and my closet is always completely over flowing. In my opinion, there are just so many different options to style I can't just commit myself to one look; frankly, that would be incredibly boring.

With this being said, when my most recent collaborator, Make Me Chic, reached out to me and asked if they could sponsor a post, I jumped at the opportunity when I saw this dress on their website. Though it's not my "usual" style (Though in all fairness what is my usual style anyways?), I've been wanting to style something with a retro feel and was thrilled to have the opportunity to do so.

Make Me Chic

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the online retailer Make Me Chic, let me just tell you a little bit about this company before I dive into my outfit details. Firstly, until recently I had not heard of them either, however my skepticism was put to rest when I discovered that they are actually a sister company of my beloved and long time sponsor SheIn! And much like SheIn, Make Me Chic sells contemporary clothing for a fraction of the price that you would normally pay at a mall, but also like SheIn there is no sacrifice in quality.  So after speaking with their one representative Anna, I was incredibly excited and could not wait to style my new dress.

Totally Far Out

I'm sure most of you remember, I have had quite the fascination with styles reminiscent of the 1970s this year, what can I say, I think it's making a big comeback! The reason this is, is because I just feel that the whimsical styles of this era really add a touch of fun to anyone's wardrobe. I mean what's not to love about bell bottoms, flowing sleeves, and big hair?

With this in mind, that is why I chose this gorgeous maxi dress from Make Me Chic to style. I just loved the the way this dress was cut as well as it's asymmetrical pattern, including the the faux belt detailing that gave this garment the illusion of having an empire waist, which I thought was a very interesting detail that I initially overlooked, but it just made me love this dress even more. I also loved the long flowing sleeve on the right side of this garment, to me it gave this dress a soft and pretty look which balanced it's empire waist, ultimately giving this piece a true '70s feel.

I also have to say, much like SheIn's clothing, I felt that this dress from Make me Chic was very well made and lived up to it's sister company's standards. However, I was initially a little worried because quite honestly the dress didn't look great on the hanger, but man, once I slipped it on, I fell in love with this piece and thought it looked absolutely gorgeous! The material is also very soft to the touch and feels nice to wear. And really, this is by far one of the most comfortable maxi dresses I own.

Lastly, to further style this piece, I chose to rock my chunky square necklace that was compliments of Bijoux USA Jewelry, as well as newest bangle by House of Harlow 1960. (Which I purchased from my most recent jewelry set, compliments of my sponsor Rockbox.)

#BLOGMAS: 12 Days of Christmas Wish-list

Firstly, to every one who commented and gave me feed back on last Friday's post thank you all so much! And just so everyone knows, due to the success of Friday's post, I will be officially retiring my monthly "Wish-list Wednesday" segment after this post and replacing it with monthly "Style Guide" posts. So now my wish-lists will strictly be reserved for around the holidays. However, since it is currently #BLOGMAS I had to squeeze in last wish-list, just to share what wishes I have that I am hoping are granted this year for my annual "Wishes Granted" post!

1. Hedgehog Mittens, SheIn

  • As I'm sure everyone here in the 'Burgh knows, it's about to get very cold outside! So what better way to keep warm than to have some adorable mittens?

2. Kendra Scott Bexley Earrings, Rocksbox

  • Firstly, the reason I love these earrings is due to their unique shape. I just really like the asymmetrical feel of them. With that being said, Alyssa, if you happen to be reading this I would love to find these in my next Rocksbox set!!

3. 10 Color Eye Shadow Pallet, Light In The Box

  • The reason I chose this eye shadow pallet is due to the fact I loved the colors in it as well as the shimmer it has. I mean this would be perfect for New Year's Eve makeup looks don't you think?

4. Makeup Sponge Set, SheIn

  • As some of you may remember, as of recently, due to my last VoxBox from Influenster, I've been trying to experiment for with makeup especially for upcoming posts next year. This being said, since I have a complete set of brushes, I figured why not step it up a bit and get a set of makeup sponges too!

5. Blue Ruffled Sleeve Dress, StyleWe

  • Again, we all know I'm trying to add cooler tones to my wardrobe. So needless to say when I saw this dress on my sponsor and affiliate, StyleWe's website it immediately made the list. This ruffled dress is so chic due to the cut of it's neckline and is appropriate for many occasions including work and play.

6. Navy Bikini, Light In The Box

  • Lately while travelling back and forth to Delray Beach to see my beau, I've really been digging the mesh swimsuit trend. Hence why this gorgeous navy mesh bikini made the cut.

7. Gold Brooch, SheIn

  • A trend I would love to try next year is really dressing up the collars of some of my more basic pieces such as plain  blouses. And what better way to do that than with pins and statement brooches?

8. Navy Patterned Cape, StyleWe

  • I'm sure many of you know, this is not the first time a cape has made my wish-list, however I just never seem to get around to buying them. But, hopefully this one will be featured in a future outfit of the day just because I love the style and pattern of it.

9. Faux Leather Pleated Skirt, Light In The Box

  • A trend I've been seeing all over websites such as Look Book and Instagram is metallic and/or leather pleated skirts. And I have to say, it is definitely a bandwagon I would like to be jumping on next year!

10. AV Max Gold Cuff, Rocksbox

  • One other thing I would like to see more of in my jewelry box this year is more large cuffs such as this one. I say this because I definitely have statement necklaces covered, so I'd really like some more statement bracelets too.

11. Two Piece Tribal Print Dress, SheIn

  • This is another trend I've been seeing a lot of down in the sunshine state: two piece dresses. I would just love to rock this piece while on a lunch or dinner date with John.

12. Pink Romper, StyleWe

  • The reason I chose this final piece is just because of how pretty and lively this feminine garment is, which would make it a perfect addition to my spring wardrobe.

So everyone, what are some things you're wishing for this holiday season? Tell me about it in the comments below of tweet me at @StarkRavingChic! Later dolls.

#OOTD: Shimmer & Shine (Feat. Rocksbox)

As the holiday gets closer and closer, it seems as though I am spending less time at home and more time out shopping, grabbing drinks with friends for holiday happy hour, and attempting to attend every ugly Christmas sweater party possible. This being said, I have been trying to style myself so my daily look could be suitable for the many events I could be attending in one day, and I have to say, this could be very tricky without the right winter basics or accessories. Lucky for me, Rocksbox has me covered on accessories and this Pittsburgh girl as an arsenal of winter wear.

Silver & Gold

Like I said earlier, my schedule this month has been CRAZY. So yesterday after a very busy night at Hollywood Lanes "Fashion Alley" show, I was ready for some retail therapy, as well as some rest and relaxation. So my mum and I headed to the Robinson mall to hangout and do some last minute Christmas shopping, as well as grab some dinner and drinks at Walnut Grill.

The outfit I chose to for these occasions was a basic black ribbed turtleneck sweater from Macy's, a pair of dark blue Levi skinnies from Nordstrom, and my very warm (as well as stylish) knee high boots from Bare Traps. The reason I chose these pieces were do to the fact I wanted to be comfortable while shopping but also because all three of these items helped me stay nice and warm in the blustery winter weather here in the 'Burgh. I also chose them because these winter basics are also very fun to style and incredibly easy to dress up with a couple of the right pieces from one of my favorite sponsors, Rocksbox.

The first piece from my Rocksbox set for this post was none other than House of Harlow 1960's gorgeous Mika Cutout Drop Earrings. The reason I love these earrings is because though they are a bit down played, they have such a beautiful shine to them, making them stand out even against my golden locks. I also just love the drop design of them, giving these gorgeous House of Harlow 1960 earrings just the right touch of modern flare.

Though my mother and I generally agree on fashion, one "rule" she always stressed to me while I was growing up was never to mix silver and gold jewelry. Well, that my friends is a fashion rule I think was meant to be broken! And this silver Jenny Bird Palm Cascade necklace, paired with these gold House of Harlow 1960 earrings, as well as my House of Harlow black and gold Aztec bangle proves it! Needless to say, this gorgeous necklace really dresses up this otherwise plain look. The reason I love this piece so much is due to how glamorous it is, and it is quite the conversation piece. However the one complaint I did have about it was how heavy it was. After all day I couldn't wait to take it off, however if you were to only wear this necklace for a few hours (such as a Christmas or New Year's Eve party) it would be a wonderful choice!

Lastly, my most loved piece from this Rocksbox set, was this stunning House of Harlow 1960 Aztec bangle. This piece has been on my wishlist for sometime now (Thanks again, Alyssa for sending me it!!) and is the only piece I purchased from this set, because obviously its beautiful! The reason I love this bangle so much is because this pretty piece really goes with so many items in my wardrobe meaning I will get (and already have gotten) a ton of wear out of it.
